Allowance
Allowance is a permanent resource in Blue Prince. It represents a daily source of gold, providing an amount of coins equal to its value at the start of each day in the form of a pickup in the Entrance Hall. Allowance is represented by the icon , although some effects instead mention allowance by name and use the icon instead, possibly due to the similarity between the two icons.
As a permanent resource, allowance does not reset between each day and is generally never spent. Certain effects may reduce its value, though this is rare. Allowance is the only resource to never display on the main screen in-game, though it can be viewed at any time on the blueprint menu once any amount of allowance has been acquired.
Raising allowance
Allowance Tokens
The main way to raise allowance is through collecting Allowance Tokens, which are resource items which give 2 when they are collected. Collecting an Allowance Token also displays a full screen description similar to special items which states that the token has been "rewarded" and that their effect is to raise allowance by 2.
Most Allowance Tokens only ever spawn once, but a small number can be claimed repeatedly, raising allowance each time. Allowance Tokens are typically found as prizes for solving puzzles or finding hidden or difficult to reach places; as such, the following sections contain major spoilers.

Most of these tokens never spawn again after their first appearance, even if they are not collected when they appear, making them permanent missable.

- Many Mora Jai Boxes contain an Allowance Token once solved. These Mora Jai boxes do not respawn once solved, meaning that their tokens will be missed unless they are claimed immediately. For the list of locations, see Mora Jai Box#Locations.
- At the bottom of the Reservoir, one of the prizes is 3 Allowance Tokens. These tokens spawn only when the box is first unlocked and never again.

- [Upgrade Spoiler: Guest Bedroom] The Quest Bedroom causes an Allowance Token to spawn on the pedestal in the Antechamber when it is entered. (Although this effect is worded as "add 2 to your allowance", it requires picking up the spawned Allowance Token to actually gain the allowance.)
- [Outer Room: Shrine] If there is a second Antechamber, they both get a token, although the Outer Antechamber's token is found rotated sideways and clipping through the pedestal.

Usage
At the start of each day, if the player has any amount of allowance other than zero, an allowance packet appears on the table in the Entrance Hall. Collecting this packet gives the player a number of coins equal to their current allowance at the time of collection. This means that the value of the packet can be increased during the day by deliberately leaving it and waiting until allowance has been raised further, though this can't cause it to spawn midday.
The first day that the allowance packet appears, it is accompanied by a note from Anne Babbage addressed to Simon. The appearance of this note is a one-time event, after which it can never be seen again on the same save profile, even if the allowance is not taken.
