floorplan, you may permanently adjust its rarity. The Gear Wrench is a rare special item in Blue Prince. It allows changing the rarity of Mechanical rooms when drafted, typically to make them more common as the rooms are generally useful.

Usage
When a Mechanical Room is drafted while holding a Gear Wrench, before the drafting menu closes an additional prompt appears allowing changing the rarity of the room. The wrench's initial position is the previous rarity of the room, and it can be moved freely to any of the four rarity levels. If a room is set to be rarer, it can extremely difficult to change it back to a more common rarity, unless a different method of changing rarity is used.
This effect can only be used if the Gear Wrench was obtained before drafting the room; it cannot do anything. As the main way to obtain the item is through an Outer Room, it is likely that the item will be obtained before drafting any Mechanical Rooms regardless.

When the Gear Wrench is picked up, the Dynamic Rarity of the Workshop and Boiler Room are set to Standard that day. This makes it easier to draft the room to change the rarity using the wrench.
