The Hovel is a room in Blue Prince. It is listed as Room 6 of the Outer Rooms page in the Room Directory.

- The first, over the table, is the official note of termination from Anne Babbage to Mr. Revane.
- The second one is a written page, full of scribbles, of someone searching for Room 46.
Gasline valve
The Hovel also contains an interactable gasline valve. Opening it shows a brief cutscene of a blue flame being lit on the cliffside, in the lower section of the grounds; closing the valve shows the blue flame being snuffed out.

This is one of four gasline valves in the game, each of which has the same effect. Once all four flames are lit, a passage to the Precipice is revealed. See gas power for more information.
Effect
When the Hovel is drafted and present, any rooms that would require gems to draft will instead require steps at a rate of 3 steps to 1 gem. This does not impact other gem-using drafting effects, such as that of the Study.
Interactions
- The Terrace prevents Green Rooms from costing steps when the Hovel is present.
[Outer Room: Shrine] Like the effect of the Study, the Blessing of the Dancer still costs gems even with the Hovel present.
As a Bedroom
- Drafting the Hovel with a Nursery in the estate provides 5.
- Drafting the Hovel will cause an additional 1
to spawn in the Servant's Quarters when the latter is drafted. - Drafting the Hovel can trigger or contribute towards triggering a particular experimental trigger which is activated by drafting Bedrooms after the first two.
- Entering the Hovel while holding Sleeping Mask provides +5, once per room.
- [Outer Room: Shrine] Drafting the Hovel while cursed will cause the player to lose 1.
