The Music Room is a room in Blue Prince. Listed as Room 015 in the Room Directory, it is stocked with musical instruments including a viola, a piano, a harp and drums, plus enough chairs to accommodate an audience of 16.
The Music Room always contains a "major key" and a "minor key", located on small wooden pedestal stands flanking the piano. The "minor key" is a basic key, found on the right pedestal.
The "major key" on the left pedestal may be any of the following special keys or key-like items:
It is possible for a Master Key to be chosen to spawn in the event that a Master Key was traded away in the Trading Post earlier in the day. Although a new Master Key can spawn this way, and is even visible in Security, it cannot actually be picked up.
This spawn occurs with the Vault Key spawns, after Vault Key 304 in the priority order.
Once Room 46 has been reached, it is possible for a Sanctum Key to spawn in the "major key" slot.
If you've found a new clue, you know what to do.
What exactly determines whether or not the Music Room Sanctum Key can spawn?
The spawning rules for this Sanctum Key are highly contentious and poorly understood. The hint towards this key in on the note in Room 46 says that the seventh key "is major if you draft it quite late". There are three different interpretations of this phrase, each of which can cause the Sanctum Key to spawn:
Meeting any of these criteria seems to cause the Sanctum Key to spawn, though players have also reported the key failing to spawn regardless. There have been some reports of a general bug involving Sanctum Keys, where keys that are collected but not used may return to a different location when reset due to how permanent Sanctum Key progress is saved. There are also reports that using a Sanctum Key can permanently disable the spawning of a different Sanctum Key instead of itself.
It is possible that the criteria above will always cause the Sanctum Key to spawn, and that failures are not random but are solely due to this bug. The Sanctum Key will never spawn if Room 46 has not yet been reached.
If the Sanctum Key does spawn, it overwrites the default "major key", preventing the other checks from taking place. Depleting the regular item pool has no effect on whether the Sanctum Key spawns.
Beyond the Estate

The Sanctum Key completely overrides the normal spawn if it is available. Otherwise:
The first option on the list is tried, but if it is unavailable, usually due to already owning the item, it goes to the next entry on the list.
If the end of the randomly selected list is reached, the first available item in the following list is chosen instead: Vault Key 149, Vault Key 370, Vault Key 233, Vault Key 304, Master Key, Secret Garden Key, Keycard, Prism Key, Silver Key, Car Keys, key.
With high luck, the Music Room may contain two additional items from the following list, at the back of the room:
Music sheets transcripts
Find here within these first words sung
The key you seek in major tongue,
But half the sheets are missing from
The four you hold the rest far flung,
A half note held is quite the pun.
Among this scattered symphony
A message hidden beneath the keys,
In bold words sung by you and me
A fractured note, an urgent plea,
In bold words sung, I do repeat
The ones or you who oft assume
That you alone can solve this tune,
Are likely going to get your due
And all the rage that will ensue,
While working on this simple clue
White pages lined with melodies
Do hide the words we've come to seek
And from our choice among all these,
We write down one that seems to be
The loudest type with ink that bleeds
