Prism Key
If you unlock a door with the Prism Key in a Green Room, Hallway, Bedroom, Red Room, or Shop, you will draw floorplans of that same color.
The Prism Key is a special item in Blue Prince. Considered to be a special key, it can be used to unlock doors in certain rooms in the same manner as regular keys except that the resulting draft consists solely of floorplans with a matching color.

Prism Keys can be guaranteed to spawn in the following ways:
- [Freezer Spoiler] The Freezer always contains a frozen Prism Key in the cooler if it is available, which can be collected after being thawed with an ignition tool.
- [Planetarium Spoiler] One of the Planetarium upgrades that can be added by the Telescope causes it to always contain a Prism Key. This Prism Key can spawn even if there is already one held or in the estate, resulting in owning multiple Prism Keys at once.
Usage
While one or more Prism Keys are held, they will appear as options in the special key menu when trying to open a locked door. Hovering over this option shows a model of the Prism Key that glows to indicate whether or not the key will fit: the Prism Key can only be used to unlock a door in Bedrooms, Hallways, Green Rooms, Shops and Red Rooms, and will not fit locks in rooms that are purely blue or black. When hovering over the Prism Key option in a room with multiple applicable colors such as the Aquarium, the color is chosen at random from all valid choices, and may be rechosen by unhovering and rehovering over the option.

If the Prism Key successfully unlocks a door, the resulting draft will be strictly locked to floorplans of that color. Due to the significantly reduced draft pool, some additional floorplans can be drawn while drafting using a Prism Key, including duplicate floorplans of existing rooms and floorplans which may not even have been discovered yet.
When the color-locked draft pool is heavily depleted, a default selection of floorplans appear. These floorplans may break the usual rules of drafting by including doorways pointing outside of the house if drafted on an edge or corner. Doorways that point outside the house will appear boarded up with no drafting door, the same as when they are drafted pointing towards the wall of another room.
Since there are almost no Hallways that are Dead Ends or L-shaped, using a Prism Key from a Hallway into a corner will always result in drawing floorplans with doorways that point outside of the house, regardless of the state of the draft pool.
Using a Prism Key consumes it and readds it to the item pool, allowing it to be obtained again in the same day. If multiple Prism Keys are held, only one will appear in the special keys menu but only one is consumed on use, allowing them all to be used as normal.
Special key warping
By using a Prism Key on a Great Hall side door immediately before drafting in a corner, a Passageway can be drafted in an ordinarily impossible spot
Ordinarily, the Prism Key's effect applies immediately after it is used. However some doors, such as the side doors in the Great Hall, may be unlocked by the Prism Key with no following draft.
In these cases, the Prism Key's effect is not lost, but will apply to the next draft initiated anywhere in the house. This will always be based on the room where the key was used rather than the room that is being drafted in, i.e. Hallways for the Great Hall, and it can be performed on both locked and unlocked doors. This even includes security doors, though not Outer Room doors which do not use the usual drafting process.
Interactions
- The Prism Key's effect seems to be identical to that of the Secret Passage. If a Prism Key is used in on the Secret Passage door, the Prism Key takes priority and the Secret Passage's chosen color is ignored.
- The Prism Key's effect overrides the effects of the Library and the Silver Key.
[Upgrade Spoiler: Nook] The Library is still always drawn while drafting in the Reading Nook, even if the Prism Key is used there by warping.
