Rotunda

A circular chamber with a domed ceiling adorned with an array of mechanical gears. In the center of the room, a stone podium serves as a central pivot point for the chamber's true purpose: rotation. A fitting function for a room named Rotunda, which means "clockwise room" in Erajan.
The Rotunda is a room in a Blue Prince. It is listed as Room 004 in the Room Directory.
Drafting requirements
The Rotunda acts like an L-shape room in some respects and a 4-way room in others:
- Since it has doorways on all four of its sides, it can only be drafted in the center of the house.
- It can, however, still be rotated as a floorplan, unlike most 4-way rooms.

Rotation
The Rotunda has one feature and one drafting effect, both related to rotation.
Rotating chamber
The Rotunda has four doorways, but two adjacent doorways are always blocked by a inner rotating drum that causes the room to resemble a corner room. The interior of the Rotunda is empty except for a central podium with a large, red button. Interacting with the button rotates the inner drum clockwise by 90 degrees, changing which of the room's doorways can be accessed. Each rotation takes around ten seconds and it is impossible to leave the Rotunda during this time. This ultimately makes the Rotunda a 4-way room that takes additional time to travel through in certain directions, and that cannot always be reaccessed through different doorways once exited.
Rotating floorplans
While drafting from any of the Rotunda's doors, there is an additional drafting option to rotate floorplans. There is no limit to how many times this option can be used. A large gear appears in the background of the floorplans while this drafting option is available and rotates when it is used.
Like all rotation effects, this option only has an effect if at least one of the drawn floorplans has multiple valid orientations in the current position. Each activation spins rooms into the next valid orientation in the clockwise direction, despite them appearing to spin anticlockwise visually.

Interactions
- Only one rotation drafting option can ever be available at any one time. If any other rotation effects are active while drafting in the Rotunda, all but one of those effects is suppressed.
- The Rotunda overrides the effect of the Ornate Compass.
[Outer Room: Shrine] It also overrides the Blessing of the Dancer.
[Studio Addition: Dovecote] The effect of the Dovecote overrides all other rotation effects.
[Contraption Spoiler: Powered Electromagnet] For some reason, the Powered Electromagnet considers the Rotunda to be a Mechanical Room and will make it more common. The Electromagnet can be seen reacting to the Rotunda when it is drawn.
Additional information
- Despite providing a drafting effect which is near-identical to the effect of a literal drafting compass, the Rotunda is not a Drafting Room.
