A uniquely modern fashioned gaming room, the Rumpus Room has provided many guests of the estate with countless hours of recreations. The room is outfitted with a record player, two television sets, a collection of board games and a mysterious antique fortune telling automaton named "Alzara".
― Room Directory
The Rumpus Room is a room in Blue Prince. It is listed as Room 022 in the Room Directory.
Drafting requirements
The Rumpus Room is placed on cooldown after seeing one of Alzara's visions. It is unclear exactly how this cooldown works or how long it lasts.
If you've found a new clue, you know what to do.
How does the Rumpus Room cooldown work?
Items
The Rumpus Room always contains two piles of 4
each on a barrel towards the right of the room, for 8
total.
Additionally, there is a chance for one of the following items to appear on the counter at the back of the room on the left, or one one of the nearby bar stools:
Alzara
The Rumpus Room's main feature is a fortune teller machine on the left wall, consisting of an animatronic soothsayer named "ALZARA" and a slot to insert coins. Approaching Alzara will bring up a prompt allowing a single coin to be inserted; with no coins, no prompt appears and attempting to interact with Alzara instead brings up a message that says "You do not have any coins." As the Rumpus Room contains 8
innately, gold is almost never an issue with Alzara.
Inserting a coin into Alzara's machine will lock the player in place while a lengthy "power up" animation plays, during which Alzara's machine will begin to glow white. The player is then launched into a cinematic in which Alzara speaks directly to them, with no lighting save for Alzara's glowing eyes. Alzara proceeds to show the player cryptic visions of scenes both familiar and unfamiliar, narrating them with purported prophecies of the future.
There are several visions that can be seen in the Rumpus Room, which are always shown in the same order. Alzara generally begins his prophecies with the following introduction:
And, as it was foretold,
I am awakened at the sound of a dropping coin.
You find yourself
face to face with the great Alzara.
And... I suspect you wish me
to look into your future.
and ends them with the following conclusion:
What you have heard here has been foreseen
by the great Alzara.
Until the dawn of the following day,
I will have nothing more to say...
After the vision, the room's regular lighting returns and Alzara becomes inactive and unresponsive for the rest of the day. Viewing one of Alzara's visions appears to place the Rumpus Room on cooldown. After the final vision, the Rumpus Room does not go on cooldown but Alzara and his machine become permanently inactive and uninteractable, never to be awakened again.
Each vision is accompanied by part of Vanitas. Some visions have altered versions, with a different melody or additional instrumentation.

[Introduction]
The image is becoming clear...
I see a boy,
a boy standing on a shore of white sand.
He is looking for something...
...something he was told he would not find.
I see a black cat tied to a red flag.
I hear the wind blowing
but the flag does not stir.
I see...
...a door marked by a rogue moon.
A door that is always locked,
yet has no key...
It is the door you have been searching for,
yet, will not find.
A lost room beyond the dark waters...
[Conclusion]
[Introduction]
The image is becoming clear...
I see the darkened cloud of ruin,
familiar to us both,
now decrepit, rundown and in disrepair.
I see eight red envelopes
resting upon eight pedestals.
And in these eight envelopes
I see eight letters penned by eight different hands.
Eight letters of which you will only ever find and read
seven.
Just like the art hanging on the walls of these rooms,
there is a letter missing...
[Conclusion]
[Introduction]
Yes...
...the fog is clearing.
I see a shadow in the doorway.
Silent footsteps in the hallways...
An unlatched gate, you did not open...
A missing item, you did not take...
I see a young boy watched from afar,
a young boy who once was brave,
but now...
...afraid.
[Conclusion]
[Introduction]
The image is becoming clear...
I hear the pattering steps of children
running in the forest.
The joyful echoes of laughter in the courtyard.
I see an old man
an old man sitting in an even older chair.
A seat that has served many generations,
each with their own stories...
each with their own secrets...
each with their own endings.
But all...
...in the same chair.
[Conclusion]
The music in this vision incorporates the melody of Overture.
[Introduction]
Faintly in the mist...
I see a figure.
A statue cradled in a courtyard of sentinel stone.
You will find yourself one day wandering these paths.
Walking in the footsteps of the past,
wandering...
...and waiting.
Searching for a shadow that will never be cast.
Longing for the day to end...
...the hours to pass.
[Conclusion]
And, as it was foretold,
I am awakened, for one last time,
by the sound of a dropping coin.
You find yourself face to face with the great Alzara.
And I suspect you wish me to impart to you
one final vision...
In the dim,
I see cavern walls of stone...
A hollow, lit by a sea of a thousand burning stars...
I see a treasure, buried beneath the cliff rocks...
A black mirror, hidden...
among the memories of the falling sands.
And within the black mirror...
I see a figure...
...a figure standing in sullen snow.
All of what I have told you my young baron,
I wish you to now know.
Until we meet again some distant day,
I will have nothing more to say.
This final vision differs from the previous visions, with an altered introduction and conclusion. Alzara's voice reverberates eerily during his prophecy, though there is a greater focus on the visuals as there are several segments where he does not speak. The music includes a bass clarinet not present in the previous visions.
Interactions
[Upgrade Spoiler: Cloister] Drafting the Rumpus Room from the Cloister of Dauja will permanently grant 2
. It is unclear what animal causes this; there is a fish mounted on a wooden plaque on the right wall, but many rooms with non-living animals are not counted, including rooms with taxidermied animals. It is also possible that the Cloister is counting Alzara himself, perhaps as a pun on animatronic.
- [HSS Spoiler] Previously seen visions can be rewatched in Security by accessing the Home Security Surveillance. All visions are found on the 1993 page regardless of the day on which they were seen, with fictitious dates and times of recording.
Additional information
- The Rumpus Room contains a star-shaped clock on its far wall that may be used to tell the time.
