The Pool is a room in Blue Prince. It is listed as Room 029 in the Room Directory.
The Pool has a chance to contain one of the following items, on or near the towels:
On the wall by one of the doors is a poster that explains the basic mechanics of the draft pool, presented in the style of pool safety posters commonly found in public swimming pools.
Drafting the Pool immediately adds three additional floorplans to the draft pool:
This is the only way that any of these rooms can be drafted in the house. The additional floorplans are removed at the end of the day.
The Pool is one of the locations with an associated water level in the Pump Room. The Pool's water level may be set anywhere between 0 and 9, with an initial level of 8. The water level controls the amount of water in the swimming pool, with lower levels allowing further access into the pit. It is possible to drop off the edges of the pool into the currently walkable areas. Although the Pump Room appears to transfer water gradually, drafting the Pump Room near the Pool reveals that the pool's water level actually changes near-instantly.
Setting the Pool's water level to 0 will completely drain it and cause several gold coins to appear in the basin, with a total value of 14
. These coins do not exist prior to draining the Pool, i.e. they will not appear on Security. If the Pool is refilled after being lowered to 0, even immediately afterwards without so much as leaving the Pump Room, then the coins will still be visible and may still be picked up from within the water if the level is low enough to physically reach them. The coins will not remain on subsequent days if the water level is left at a nonzero value. Setting the water level to 0 also causes the pool divider floating in the corner to disappear.
Spawning the full amount of gold is a one-time event. Every time gold appears in the Pool thereafter, only 4
will appear instead of the full 14
. Setting the water level to 0 is still required for the gold to appear each day.
If gold has never appeared in the Pool and its water level is somehow set to 0 with no actual Pool in the estate, then it will still contain 14
the next time it is drafted.
Once the Gift Shop is added, Pool Trunks may be purchased for 40
. The name and description of this upgrade is a pun; it does add a pair of swimming trunks to one of the Pool's benches, but also a pair of trunks to the swimming pool itself. The trunks bob gently on the water's surface, inaccessible. The purchase only affects Pools drafted afterwards, as existing Pools are not modified.
When the Pool is completely drained, the trunks can be unlocked like normal. Although the trunks can be physically reached on other water levels, water level 0 is required to interact with them. The trunks permanently replace the Pool gold, which will never spawn again once the Gift Shop purchase is made.
