Can light special candles and ignite fuses.
― Item description

The Torch is a special item in Blue Prince. It allows lighting candles and other similar objects.

How to obtain

This item can be purchased from the following shops.

Usage

The game contains several objects which can be lit by the Torch. Many of these are ruby socketed candlesticks, which are usually found in pairs and trigger some permanent effect when all are lit. The candles themselves do not usually remain lit on future days, and can be re-lit on future days with no additional effect. Several other ignitable objects exist such as fuses, and have various other effects when lit which may or may not be permanent.

Crate Tunnel

The Crate Tunnel contains two wall-mounted torches near the crates. Lighting either torch illuminates the tunnel, allowing the nearby document to be inspected and the Tunnel floorplan to be collected. Both torches remain permanently lit on future days, even if only one was lit.

Chapel

Lighting both of the candles in the Chapel permanently reveals the Keeper of Tithes, which can be broken by hand to regain all previously taken Chapel gold. Unlike most ruby socketed candles, these candles stay permanently lit once both are lit, and cannot be interacted with again.

Freezer

All of the ice in the Freezer can be thawed with the Torch, granting access to the documents and items inside. This includes:

Unlike other burnable locations, this thawing is only temporarily and the items, documents and ice wall will be refrozen on future days.

Tomb

The Tomb contains two pairs of lightable candles. In both cases, lighting both candles raises a hidden wall to reveal a hidden chamber, which remains open permanently.

  • The first location is immediately to the left after entering the main chamber and contains a table with an Upgrade Disk and 4 dice inside. On future days only 2 dice spawn, as well as the Upgrade Disk if it has not been used.
  • The second location is at the far end of the main chamber and contains the resting place of Clara Epsen, easily identified by her portrait on top. Unlike most photographs of Clara Epsen, it cannot be inspected. There is a Diary Key partially hidden behind the portrait, as well as a note written in Erajan on a table.

Trading Post

The dynamite fuse on the left side of the Trading Post can be lit, creating a hole in the west wall of the room.

The other side of the wall contains a hidden chamber with a still for producing moonshine. On the barrels are an Upgrade Disk, 40 spread across eight piles, and related documents. The hole in the wall is permanent, though the coins do not spawn again on future days even if they were not taken.

Abandoned Mine

A circular room in the Abandoned Mine contains eight candles. When all eight are lit, a path opens to The Precipice. If both entrances are opened, this can be taken as an alternative path to access this area.

These ignitable objects are tied to major puzzles or other lategame content:
