Treasure Map
The Treasure Map is a special item in Blue Prince. Unlike most special items, it does not display any name or description when picked up, instead unfurling and showing a marked spot on a 9x5 grid without any further explanation.
How to obtain
This item can be found in the following locations.
- [Red Room Spoiler: Lavatory]
- [Studio Addition: Clock Tower]
- [Upgrade Spoiler: Spare Foyer]
- [Upgrade Spoiler: Spare Secret Passage]
With unusually high luck, this item can also be found in the following rooms.
- Den
- [Post-Credits Room: Trophy Room]
This item can also be obtained from the following sources.
- Trunks
- Lockers in the Locker Room
- [Garage Spoiler] The trunk of the car in the Garage, after the Upgrade Disk has already been used
Variants
When the Treasure Map is collected as a physical item, it does not show a name or description. Instead, it must be interacted with a second time, which opens it up. Doing so reveals a 9x5 grid with a dotted line leading towards a grid position marked by an X.
There are different eight locations on the grid that the Treasure Map can point to. All possible locations are Rank 5 or higher, and never appear in corners.
The location grid can be viewed again later by inspecting the map in the inventory.

Usage
Spoilers Within
This section contains spoilers for usage.
While holding the Treasure Map and standing in the room whose location within the house matches the marked spot on the map, there is a particular spot which causes a prompt for the Treasure Map to appear. Acting on the prompt opens the map again and shows messages confirming that "This looks like the spot." followed by "Now to find something to dig with." This interaction can be performed any number of times.
If the player also has a Shovel or equivalent, the second message instead becomes "Time to start digging!" At this point, the Treasure Map prompts no longer appear, and the spot under the player's feet becomes a unique hidden dig spot, which can be interacted with to dig it up. The Treasure Map is no longer needed for this part, though the digging tool still is. The dig spot cannot be dug up until the "Time to start digging!" message has appeared.
Excavating the dig spot causes a fade to black accompanied by a lengthy string of digging sounds before revealing "one of the lost Coffers of Mt. Holly". Interacting again reveals its contents, which are always one of the following:
- 40
- 8
- 25 and 3
[Datamined Information] The coffer's contents are chosen from the options uniformly at random.
Afterwards, the excavated dig spot appears as a large hole that is visually unique to many rooms where it appears. The damage to the room lasts until the end of the day. The Treasure Map is not consumed upon digging up the treasure if it is still held, though it no longer has any effect that day.
- Dig spot cursor that appears after viewing the map in the Den
Spoilers Within
This section contains spoilers for a secret exception.
The Bedroom does not contain normal treasure. When digging with the Treasure Map in this room, the digging animation simply ends without receiving anything. Instead, the hole in the ground contains Baron's Bafflers, a document that can be inspected through the hole.
Unlike in other rooms, the damage to the ground is permanent, as is access to the bafflers. Once this has been done, it is impossible to use the Treasure Map in the Bedroom again. The Bedroom can still be drafted in that spot; it simply has no location where the prompt appears.
Interactions
- If a Treasure Map is stored in the Coat Check or retained by the Moon Pendant, the marked location is consistent between days. However, it has no effect until it is viewed for the first time each day; if it is not picked up naturally, it must be inspected from the inventory screen in order to work. A Treasure Map can still be used to find treasure even if it has already been used on previous days.
- [Studio Addition: The Kennel] Using the Treasure Map activates the effect of The Kennel.
- [Found Floorplan: Conservatory] Since corners are never marked, the Conservatory can never be dug for treasure.
Spoilers Within
This section contains spoilers for trading.
The Treasure Map can be traded away in the Trading Post as a tier 2 item. Doing such re-adds it to the item pool, allowing it to be obtained again within the same day. However, additional maps found after the first always point to the same location, which cannot be dug up twice in one day. If a Treasure Map has already been viewed at its intended location today, additional maps may have buggy animations when collected.
If a Treasure Map was carried over from a previous day by the Coat Check or Moon Pendant, it is removed from the item pool like usual, and can be reobtained if it is traded away. But since that map was never actually picked up, it is possible for a newly acquired Treasure Map to mark a different location from the first. If it does, two different rooms can be dug for treasure in the same day.
